MFPD Board Special Meeting

The MFPD Board of Directors held a special meeting on July 1st to discuss closed session labor negotiations regarding the fire chief position and public employee appointments. During public comment, several community members, including Lori Parlin (El Dorado County Supervisor), urged the board to focus on completing a Shared Services Agreement with other fire districts rather than hiring an outside fire chief. Residents expressed concerns about the current state of emergency services, staffing limitations for structure fires and medical emergencies, and the lack of transparency in board decisions. The board announced they would pursue shared services negotiations more aggressively and would not seek an interim chief from outside the district if needed. After public comments and discussion, the board adjourned.
