MFPD Board Meeting

This was a Mosquito Fire Protection District board meeting focused on public comment regarding community access to the fire station and ongoing discussions about shared services with Garden Valley Fire Protection District. The meeting began with public comments from community members expressing concerns about restricting community use of the fire station for events and fundraising activities, with some arguing that the station was built and maintained by community volunteers over the years. The board then addressed various operational items including the approval of consent calendar items, review of vehicle purchases and radio expenses, and updates on the PG&E project completion. Significant discussion centered around shared services negotiations with Garden Valley, with board members expressing concerns about transparency and communication regarding the process. The board decided to hold a closed session meeting on Friday at 11am to discuss the shared services proposal before proceeding with any public discussions about advertising for a new fire chief. Additional topics covered included policy reviews, approval of agreements with CAL FIRE and the U.S. Forest Service, and updates on vehicle fleet management and apparatus readiness.
